History and description<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Mughal Prince Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Emperor Shahjahan, is thought to have received spiritual instruction from the Sufi saint Abdur-Rahim alias Abd-ul-Razak, also known as Shaikh Chehli (also pronounced Chilli), who is associated with this lovely tomb and the madrasa (school). The mausoleum is octagonal in shape with an entrance in the south and stands on a man-made terrace overlooking the madrasa. It is made of buff sandstone and is topped with a white marble pear-shaped dome that is raised on a large circular drum. While his grave is in the lower chamber, which is connected to the madrasa by a tiny gallery, his cenotaph is in the centre of the room. The madrassa features nine-arched entrances on both sides of a courtyard with a stone Masonry tank in the middle. In 1854 AD, the tomb was renovated in large part thanks to John Dawkins, the Thaneshar collector at the time. Two small museums inside the madrasa building house the artefacts discovered during excavations at Harsh ka Tilla and Bhagwanpura, both of which are located in the Kurukshetra district.<\/p>\n
