SCIENCE CENTRE AND PANORAMA CENTRE OF KURUKSHETRA
Science and religion come together in a unique way at the Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Centre. The center’s major attraction is a life-like panorama of the legendary battle of Kurukshetra, which depicts the Mahabharata conflict with scientific explanations for each occurrence. One of the Center’s most impressive features is its two-story cylindrical structure. To learn more about ancient Indian concepts of matter’s qualities as well as atomic structure, geometrical formulas, arithmetical laws, and astronomy—not to mention medicine and surgery—the Center includes a fascinating display called “India: A Heritage in Science, Technology, and Culture.”
The architecture and ambiance of this slender, towering cylindrical structure are both stunning. In the circular hall’s centre are paintings with a combined height of 34 feet, depicting scenes from the Mahabharata, such as the fight between the Pandavas and the Kauravas and a model of the battlefield that accurately depicts the carnage. It’s hard to top the wonderful ambiance created by Gita chanting, distant war cries, and clever lighting illusions.
Outside the Center’s walls, a Science Park has been constructed. It’s a novel approach to teaching science to kids that emphasises having fun while doing it. These well-placed exhibitions in the park’s greenery draw the attention of both youngsters and adults.
Mahabharata’s epic battle is depicted on the first level in a lifelike panorama with scientific arguments for each of the encounter’s episodes. The chanting of Gita shlokas with war cries floating in from the distance, as well as the innovative use of lighting, creates an awe-inspiring atmosphere.
