This region of Haryana has been home to people from many different civilizations and cultures and has had an enormous impact on the social systems and culture of the area. The Dharohar Haryana Museum, was opened in 2006, is dedicated to preserving Haryana’s living traditions. The vast majority of the exhibit’s artefacts were contributed by persons living in remote parts of the state. The museum is now working on a new exhibit depicting the lives of the people of the past. There will also be a continuation of the current display. In order to demonstrate how rapidly this component of culture is vanishing, the new display has been created.

The Golden Jubilee Year of Kurukshetra University marked the establishment of this institute. The museum’s 23 galleries feature paintings, pictures, artefacts, and manuscripts that tell the storey of the region’s history. At Kurukshetra University, the university’s golden jubilee celebration, a museum was built inside the university campus to display Haryana’s distinct cultural and architectural history. Through its dioramas as well as other exhibits, it truly transports tourists into a normal Haryanvi village, giving them the impression that they may live there for a few days. Its galleries include an open-air mud kitchen with a variety of brass-encased items, such as containers for curd and water, pickle pots and cane baskets, a kerosene lantern and a woman cooking food on a classic chulha using cow-dung cakes as fuel. Exhibitions in additional galleries include Haryanvi gold jewelry, handicrafts, toys, brass and copper storage boxes and farming tools, wooden carts, and musical equipment. Indian army martyrs’ images are on exhibit in a gallery of the museum. At the end of the show, there is a charming town where you can’t help but pose with dioramas.

Many ladies come to fill their jerry cans at the village well, making for an interesting sight. Seeing a man playing a wooden instrument in the shade of a peepal tree is also a welcome sighting. Science and religion come together in a unique way at the Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Centre. The center’s major attraction is a life-like panorama of the legendary battle of Kurukshetra, which depicts the Mahabharata conflict with scientific explanations for each occurrence. One of the Center’s most impressive features is its two-story cylindrical structure. To learn more about ancient Indian concepts of matter’s qualities as well as atomic structure, geometrical formulas, arithmetical laws, and astronomy—not to mention medicine and surgery—the Center includes a fascinating display called “India: A Heritage in Science, Technology, and Culture.”

The architecture and ambiance of this slender, towering cylindrical structure are both stunning. In the circular hall’s centre are paintings with a combined height of 34 feet, depicting scenes from the Mahabharata, such as the fight between the Pandavas and the Kauravas and a model of the battlefield that accurately depicts the carnage. It’s hard to top the wonderful ambiance created by Gita chanting, distant war cries, and clever lighting illusions.
Outside the Center’s walls, a Science Park has been constructed. It’s a novel approach to teaching science to kids that emphasises having fun while doing it. These well-placed exhibitions in the park’s greenery draw the attention of both youngsters and adults.

Mahabharata’s epic battle is depicted on the first level in a lifelike panorama with scientific arguments for each of the encounter’s episodes. The chanting of Gita shlokas with war cries floating in from the distance, as well as the innovative use of lighting, creates an awe-inspiring atmosphere.

Goddess Bhadrakali’s temple can be found in Kurukshetra, the site of the battle between the Pandavas and Kauravas. Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth is another name for this ancient sanctuary, which is thought to have existed for a long time. Shri Krishna and Balram’s tonsure ceremony may have taken place here. Some say Lord Krishna and his Pandavas prayed here before the battle of Kurukshetra. Afterwards, they are reported to have sacrificed their horses to the goddess, after conquering the Kuravas.

Legend

Shaktipeetha status is accorded to the temple. Shiva’s rage at the loss of his wife Sati emerged as the Tandava that would destroy the Universe, and Vishnu’s Sudarshan chakra ripped her body into pieces that scattered throughout the subcontinent. Her body parts fell in these areas, and they are now considered hallowed Shaktipeethas. The Devi’s ankle is said to have shattered at the Bhadrakali temple, where it is said to have landed.

Architecture

Three pyramid shikharas adorn the temple, the tallest of which towers over the others. A giant lotus stands in the centre of the well just inside the main entrance. The right ankle of the Goddess is depicted on the lotus, indicating its significance as a Shaktipeetha. The main shrine, which is just across the street, is where you’ll find the idol of Ma Kali. Other deities’ and goddesses’ statues can be seen along the parikarma path. The open hall for satsang/kirtans is located right next to the main temple room. More idols, including a Shivlingam, may be seen on the upper level.

In the main temple are Narayan and Lakshmi. Other shrines honour Shiva, Ganesha, and Hanuman. There is also a Buddha shrine. The left temple shikhar (dome) houses Devi Durga, Shakti’s goddess. The temple measures 7.5 acres (30,000 m2) in size with a built-up area of 0.52 acres (2,100 m2).
